Murasaki
Murasaki Shikibu was a Japanese novelist, poet, and noblewoman in the Heian court of 11th century Japan. She is most famous for writing The Tale of Genji, widely considered the first ever novel, between the years 1000 and 1012. Murasaki is thought to have written the novel while she was married, or else shortly after her husband died. Because of her reputation as a writer, she was invited to serve Emperor Shoshi as a lady-in-waiting, which she did until her death, estimated between 1014 and 1025.
