About The Author

Natalie Starkey

Natalie Starkey is a geologist and cosmochemist. She holds a doctorate from Edinburgh University, where her research focused on the geochemistry of Arctic volcanoes. During her doctoral studies, Natalie traveled to the volcanic fields of Iceland, explored the ancient volcanoes of northern Scotland, and spent three months working as a volcanologist on the Caribbean island of Montserrat. Her postdoctoral research broadened to include the analysis of extraterrestrial rock samples, which inspired her first popular science book, Catching Stardust (Bloomsbury Sigma, 2018).

In 2013, Natalie was awarded a British Science Association Media Fellowship. She is a regular presence on television and radio programs internationally and serves as a science host with Neil deGrasse Tyson’s StarTalk Radio.
