Professor Neal Cook

Professor Neal Cook is a Professor of Nursing and the Head of School at the School of Nursing and Paramedic Science, Ulster University. He is a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and leads the Athena Gold Award winning team. Neal is also the President of the European Association of Neuroscience Nurses and an Executive Board Member of the British Association of Neuroscience Nurses. His work focuses on person-centred nursing, with applications in both practice and education. Neal has a background in neurosciences, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology, and has worked in neurosciences and critical care since registering as a nurse. He became a specialist practitioner before moving into education and research. Neal has published extensively in clinical, research, and education fields, focusing on person-centredness, education, and neurosciences. He remains clinically active in neurosciences and is a registered nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (UK) and the Nursing and Midwifery Board Ireland (NMBI).

Andrea Shepherd

Andrea Shepherd is a Senior Lecturer and Deputy Head of School at the School of Nursing and Paramedic Science, Ulster University. She holds a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and is the Vice President of the British Association of Neuroscience Nurses. Andrea has extensive experience teaching anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology to undergraduate and postgraduate nursing students. She is also a Resuscitation Council UK, Generic Instructor and Advanced Life Support Instructor, delivering life support courses. Andrea has worked in critical care and orthopaedics since registering as a nurse, becoming a specialist practitioner before moving into education. She currently leads adult pre-registration nursing and curriculum design, remains clinically active in critical care, and is a registered nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (UK).

Stephanie Dunleavy

Stephanie Dunleavy is a Senior Lecturer in Nursing at the School of Nursing and Paramedic Science, Ulster University, with a strong leadership background in pre-registration nursing programmes. She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and has taught anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology to undergraduate and postgraduate nursing students. Stephanie is also an Immediate Life Support Instructor, delivering life support courses within the School. She possesses extensive clinical experience in critical care and neurosciences and holds a BSc (Hons) in Life Sciences and a Masters of Business Administration. Stephanie currently leads pre-registration nursing education and curriculum design and is a registered nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (UK).

Dr Claire McCauley

Dr Claire McCauley is a Senior Lecturer in Health Sciences, Academic Lead for Education, and Pharmacology Lead at the School of Nursing and Paramedic Science, Ulster University. She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and teaches physiology, pathophysiology, and pharmacology to undergraduate nursing and paramedic students, as well as pharmacology and Non-Medical Prescribing to postgraduate nursing students. Claire is also an Immediate Life Support Instructor. She holds an MSc in Health Promotion and Public Health. Since completing her PhD in 2015, Claire has focused her research on the mental health and wellbeing of vulnerable groups and clinical decision-making. She remains clinically active in pharmacy and is a registered pharmacist with The Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland.
