About The Author
NisiOisiN
NisiOisin, born in 1981, is one of Japan’s most successful authors. He dropped out of Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto to pursue storytelling. Initially aiming to be a comic artist, he shifted his focus to writing after realizing his art wasn’t up to par. He won the 23rd Mephisto Prize for Kubikiri Cycle, recognizing his talent as a mystery writer at age 20. Since his 2002 debut, Nisio has written over 50 novels and several comics, becoming a top-selling author in Japan with over 5 million units sold since 2009. He was the top-selling author in Japan in both 2012 and 2014. His works often explore themes of youth within familiar genres, mixing mystery with comedy, romance, and the supernatural. A modern author, he sometimes experiments with the Japanese language. Many of his works have been adapted into animated television series and films. His best-known works include the Monogatari series and Katanagatari.
