Oku Hiroya
Hiroya Oku
Hiroya Oku is a manga artist, best known as the creator of Gantz, Zero One, and HEN. All of his serialized works have appeared in Young Jump magazine. Oku’s manga are often characterized by their explicit violence, gore, and mature sexual themes.
In 1988, under the pen name Yahiro Kuon, Oku won the second prize in the Youth Manga Awards. He also contributed to the video game industry by designing the character “Shura” for Bandai Namco’s fighting game Soulcalibur IV, released for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Oku currently resides in Tokyo, Japan.
