Critics Review

Osiris, more authentically called Wesir, is one of the most important Ancient Egyptian gods. He is king of the afterlife but also has power over agriculture and the fertile black soil along the banks of the Nile. In Pagan Portals - Osiris, Egyptologist and practicing pagan Dr Olivia Church combines meticulous scholarly research with insights from a modern spiritual perspective. This is a superb book and a must-read for anyone wanting to learn more about the Egyptian pantheon and ways to honour this ancient deity whose mythology includes life, death and rebirth. – Lucya Starza, author of Pagan Portals titles Candle Magic, Poppets and Magical Dolls, Scrying, and Rounding the Wheel of the Year, as well as the Gothic novel Erosion

About The Author

Olivia Church, PhD

Dr. Olivia Church is an ancient historian and Egyptologist, with expertise in prehistoric Egypt, ancient goddesses, feminism, and contemporary Paganism. Her love of the ancient world and her polytheistic Pagan path lends itself to her writing, drawing from academic expertise and her own spiritual belief and experience. These days Olivia follows a predominantly Heathen spiritual path, though her polytheism has led her to maintain relationships with deities belonging to the Egyptian and Graeco-Roman pantheons as well. Outside of this, Olivia is an introvert who lives in the UK with her partner and their cat, and spends most of her free time writing, reading, watching horror movies, and listening to heavy metal.
