Author Biography

The famous French designer Christian Dior created his revolutionary 'New Look' in 1947, which represented a new chapter in fashion history. The 'New Look' style, with its small walstline and voluminous skirt, created an hourglass silhouette with refinement. This silhouette required structural undergarments such as corselets, bullet bras and petticoats to highlight the feminine form, In the fifties, fashion became available for the majority of people with the expansion of ready-to-wear designs and the mass production of clothes.

Review

"...far and away the most gorgeous book on the house..." The New York Times "Dior Couture immortalizes one of the most important and long-lived couture houses in the world and is a book that anyone with an interest in fashion will want for their library." Huffington Post

"Books such as this are rare and should be considered a must for any fashion library and certainly for anyone with a serious interest in fashion as an art form." New York Journal of Books
