Critics Review
[Adamson] and Jeffers’ writing is refreshingly free of academic jargon and pseudo-intellectual lingo. * Dave Luhrssen, Shepherd Express *
Succeeds both as an introduction and as an invitation. It provides a clear, engaging, and well-documented overview of a vast and heterogeneous field, and it does so in a format that lends itself well to teaching. * José Eduardo Porcher, Religious Studies *
Succeeds as both an introduction and an invitation… a clear, engaging, and well-documented overview to a vast and heterogenous field. * José Eduardo Porcher, Religious Studies *
Adamson (Ludwig Maximilian Univ. of Munich, Germany) and Jeffers (Dalhousie Univ., Canada) provide an illuminating discourse on African philosophy. Their text comprises 53 brief chapters divided into two sections. The short chapters encourage readers to eagerly proceed to the next, and the authors successfully strike a balance between rigorous argumentative analysis and a more journalistic writing style, interspersed with witty commentary. …Recommended. * G. Emeagwali, CHOICE *
Adamson and Jeffers have performed a great service in producing such an accessible, comprehensive, and informative work. * Teaching Philosophy *
