Rachel Kerr is a leading figure in colorectal cancer research and clinical trials, both nationally and internationally. She has been instrumental in spearheading numerous clinical trials focused on the adjuvant treatment of colorectal cancer, significantly advancing the field. By establishing correlative clinical outcome and tumor sample biobanks from large adjuvant trials, she has profoundly enhanced our understanding of biomarkers for predicting prognosis and treatment response in colorectal cancer. Furthermore, she has pioneered the implementation of “toxgnostics,” a germline identification approach to pinpoint patients at higher risk of chemotherapy-induced toxic effects.
Li Yang
Specialist in Diagnosis and Treatment of Complicated Digestive System Diseases
Li Yang specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of complex digestive system diseases, with a particular focus on hepatic cirrhosis and autoimmune liver diseases. Her research, supported by grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NFSC) and other projects, has led to over 1000 peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals such as the Journal of Hepatology, Hepatology, Lancet Oncology, and Radiology. She received the First Prize of the Sichuan Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award in 2019 as the first lead author and the First Prize of the China Medical Science and Technology Award in 2022 as the second lead author. She serves as Deputy Editor-in-chief for national-level textbooks, including Digestive Internal Medicine and Digestive System and Diseases, as well as for Practical Journal of Liver Diseases and China Medical Forum Press.
David Kerr
Professor of Cancer Medicine, University of Oxford Honorary Consultant Medical Oncologist
David Kerr is Professor of Cancer Medicine at the University of Oxford and an Honorary Consultant Medical Oncologist. Over the past 25 years, he has collaborated with colleagues to establish a new Institute for Cancer Medicine and a Cancer Hospital. He holds honorary professorships at Oslo and Sichuan Universities and is the Co-Director of the Oxford-Sichuan Gastrointestinal Cancer Centre. He is internationally recognized for his work in cancer treatment and research, with his contributions acknowledged through numerous national and international accolades, including the Tianfu Friendship Award (2022) and the China Friendship Medal (2024). He was appointed Commander of the British Empire by Her Majesty the Queen in 2002. He has served as a health advisor to three British Prime Ministers and has contributed to national cancer planning in several countries worldwide. Currently, he is the Editor-in-Chief of The Oxford Textbooks of Oncology and Cancer Biology.
