About The Author

Robbie Adkins

Robbie Adkins was born in Southern California shortly after WWII. She grew up feeling safe and was able to explore all that this abundant world had to offer. There were, of course, limitations, but they led her to start questioning everything and to seek out all the possibilities open to her.

After graduating from college with a degree in Graphic Communication, she began a highly successful career as a graphic designer/illustrator. She won a guest editorship to Mademoiselle Magazine and went to New York to work as an intern for the month after her graduation. Her professional career included positions such as magazine art director and director of corporate communications for an emerging information company. She received many awards along the way, such as a Gold Medal from the LA Art Directors and a Best of Show from the Communication Arts group of San Diego.

In 1969, she married Bob Skinner and, within a few months, began skydiving with him. She was also part of a world-record all-female formation. She then moved into the emerging sport of hang gliding and was the only woman to qualify to compete in the Escape Country World Meet in 1975. Their lives revolved around “flying,” and they went on to open a hang gliding school and store, called Flight Realities.

She used her artistic and creative skills to create a deck of message cards, “Voice of the Soul,” and illustrated and wrote a book, “Making a Home for Faeries.” She has designed hundreds of books and loves helping people tell their stories.

She currently lives in Murrieta, California, with her loving dogs.
