Sadakat Kadri
Sadakat Kadri was born in London in 1964 and is of half-Finnish and half-Pakistani heritage. He holds a first-class degree in history and law from Trinity College, Cambridge, and a master’s degree from Harvard Law School. Kadri qualified as a barrister and a New York attorney and has been associated with Doughty Street Chambers in London since the mid-1990s.
He has worked on human rights issues in various overseas jurisdictions, including Turkey and parts of the Middle East. His previous book, The Trial: A History from Socrates to O.J. Simpson, received critical acclaim. Kadri is also a past winner of the Spectator/Shiva Naipaul travel writing prize. Before commencing research for his work on sharia, he contributed a regular column on legal matters to the New Statesman.
