Sandra Equihua
Sandra Equihua is a creator, illustrator, and character designer. She was born and raised in Tijuana, Mexico, growing up inspired by both American and Mexican cultures due to her proximity to the border. She received her bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from Ibero-American University. It wasn’t until after graduation that she discovered her passion for illustration.
Her clients include Sony Pictures, McGraw and Hill, WEA, Disney, WB, Nickelodeon, and the California State Fair. She has worked in animation as an illustrator and character designer for shows such as El Macho (Sony), Mucha Lucha (WB), The Buzz on Maggie (Disney), and Wow Wow Wubzy! (Nick Jr.).
Sandra won an Emmy for her designs on El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera and an Annie Award for her designs on The Book of Life. Both projects were co-created with her husband and lifelong collaborator.
