Summary

This book teaches new riders how to become confident and safe on the road. It’s the first book which arms beginners with the knowledge to choose an excellent bike training school, to monitor their own training, and to start riding with a full complement of real-world survival skills. It also covers post-test improvement, the causes of the most common accidents (written by a police accident investigator), and advice on getting back into biking. Whether you are about to do your CBT, have trained on a direct access course, learned over the course of a few months - or if it has been a long time since you have regularly ridden a motorcycle, this book will guide you through the techniques and knowledge you need to be a safe and confident rider.

About The Author

Sean Hayes

Sean Hayes learned to ride in 1991, motivated by a desire to improve motorcycle training after hearing about a student’s accident. He founded Circuit Based Training at Donington Park in 1997, offering a safe learning environment before riders take to public roads. The school later relocated to Mallory Park in Leicestershire, having taught thousands of riders.

Rupert Paul began riding in 1978 and developed a passion for motorcycles. He qualified as a mechanic in 1983 and began his career in motorcycle journalism in 1985, holding editorial positions at various prominent publications including Performance Bikes, Bike, What Bike?, and MCN Sport. He has ridden a wide range of motorcycles and is deeply interested in the skill of riding. Paul organized one of the first public track days in 1988 and expanded this concept into multi-day courses. He has written extensively on motorcycle control, rider psychology, and riding techniques and continues to contribute to several motorcycle magazines.
