Dr. Shijie Liu

Dr. Shijie Liu is a Professor of Bioprocess Engineering at the State University of New York – College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY ESF). He holds a BSc. in Chemical Engineering from Chengdu University of Science and Technology (now Sichuan University) and a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta.

With 30 years of experience in academia and 5 years in industry, Dr. Liu is a Fellow of AIChE. He has published over 200 scholarly papers and was recognized on the Top 2% Most Influential Scientists list by Stanford University and Elsevier.

His current research interests include:

  • Fermentation
  • Biomolecular Kinetics
  • Bioreactors
  • Design of Experiments (for Quality Control and Kinetic Analysis)

Over the past 20 years, Dr. Liu has taught courses such as Biomolecular Kinetics, Biochemical Reaction Engineering, and Bioprocess Engineering of Reactions.
