Sofie Laguna

Sofie Laguna is the author of four adult novels that have received numerous literary awards, including the Miles Franklin Award, the Colin Roderick Award, and the Indie Award. She has also been shortlisted for several prestigious accolades such as the Stella Prize, the ALS Gold Medal, the Voss Award, the Victorian Premier’s Literary Award, and the Prime Minister’s Literary Award. Laguna’s extensive collection of children’s books has been published internationally in the US and UK, and translated across Europe and Asia. Her children’s books have been recognized as Honour and Notable Books by the Children’s Book Council of Australia. Her fifth adult novel, The Underworld, is set for publication in 2025.

Marc McBride is the acclaimed illustrator of the New York Times best-selling Deltora Quest series, which has sold over eighteen million copies worldwide and was adapted into an anime television show. McBride has illustrated more than two hundred book covers, including those for the Dragon Games series by Maddy Mara. His illustration portfolio also features thirteen picture books, such as The Glimme (written by Emily Rodda, a 2020 CBCA Honour Book), The Song of Lewis Carmichael (2021), The House on Pleasant Street (2022), The Glow (2023), and A Friend for Ruby (2023). McBride’s work has been exhibited at the New York Society of Illustrators International Show. He has received Aurealis Awards for his contributions to the Deltora Quest series and for World of Monsters, a book he both wrote and illustrated.
