Tom Percival
Tom Percival is an author and illustrator who lives in Stroud with his family and The Best Dog in the World. Many of his books explore themes of social connection, community, equality, and emotional growth, though he also writes purely escapist stories. When not creating books, he enjoys walking and running in the countryside with his family, his dog, or sometimes all of them together. He also makes music and enjoys photography.
RJ grew up in Leamington Spa before moving to Devon to study illustration at the University of Plymouth in Exeter, and never returned home. After completing his degree, he pursued a PhD. While working on his thesis, he took a temporary job at Exeter’s Central Library, where he ended up working for over ten years. Outside of work, he enjoys swimming in the sea and rivers, walking in woods, listening to audiobooks on the bus, and petting the cat. He now works full-time as an author and illustrator.
