What They're Saying

Critics Review

This book will have a wide appeal. For readers who enjoy history and want to learn more about an ancient civilisation and for those who want an exciting adventure story. The illustrations (some are full page) give an extra depth of understanding to a time we can only know about through reading. They help, as does the Historical Note at the end. – Rachel Bolton * Read for Good *
A historical note at the back of the book provides young readers with information as to what inspired the story, which has been very well researched and is filled with the sort of details that children not only enjoy reading but are also likely to remember, making this a great choice for those in Year 4 upwards as either an independent read or a class one to complement any topic work. At around 220 pages, the short length and inclusion of some wonderful artwork from Alessandro Valdrighi make this a read that will appeal to many who find much of what is on offer to them too long to engage with. I very much enjoyed it and can highly recommend it. * Mrs Sydney’s Famous World’s Smallest Library *
