Trevor Avery
Trevor Avery is a historian and curator based in Cumbria. It was a chance encounter and a half-forgotten memory that led him to devote two decades to uncovering the past of the young concentration camp survivors who came to Windermere in 1945. He initiated the Lake District Holocaust Project in 2005 to preserve their experiences and now produces, manages, and curates exhibitions at Windermere Library to share their story.
Trevor contributed to the BBC and Warner Bros film The Windermere Children as their primary research advisor and made a personal appearance in the accompanying BBC and ZDF documentary The Windermere Children: In Their Own Words. He has also worked as a producer on a number of short films about the Windermere survivors, including From Carlisle to Calgarth and One Night from Prague, as well as featuring in Rob Rinder’s BAFTA-winning episode of Who Do You Think You Are?
