About The Author

Tristan Gooley

Tristan Gooley (Author)

Tristan is an author and natural navigator. He set up his natural navigation school in 2008 and is the author of award-winning and internationally bestselling books, including The Walker’s Guide to Outdoor Clues & Signs (UK 2014), The Secret World of Weather (2021), and How to Read a Tree (2023). These are some of the world’s only books covering natural navigation. His books have been translated into 20 languages. He has spent decades hunting for clues and signs in nature, across the globe, and has been nicknamed ‘The Sherlock Holmes of Nature’. He is the only living person to have both flown solo and sailed singlehanded across the Atlantic.

Andrew Donkin (Author)

Andrew is a multi-award-winning author of over eighty books for children and adults. His best-selling books and graphic novels have been translated into thirty languages around the world and have sold over eleven million copies in the last two decades. His innovative graphic novels Illegal and Global (co-written with Eoin Colfer) are both best-selling international hits. His non-fiction work includes the recent award-winning A History of the World in 25 Cities (co-written with Tracey Turner).

Gordy Wright (Illustrator)

Gordy is an illustrator, printmaker, and picture maker from the UK. He grew up by the edge of the North York Moors, dedicating much of his childhood to painting and drawing. In 2011, he moved to Bristol to study illustration at the University of the West of England, graduating with a first-class honours degree. In his illustrations, he aims to evoke a natural, textured feeling, which he achieves by painting by hand in gouache, acrylic, and inks. He works on a range of editorial and publishing projects and has a keen interest in projects focusing on the natural world.
