Wojtek van Portek
Wojtek van Portek grew up in Poland in the 1980s, learning from his grandmother in the countryside her traditional techniques of cooking and how to tend a vegetable garden - and why making a meal can be a simple yet generous act.
In 2010 Wojtek moved to London to finish his studies in fashion and political science. Although he was working with some of fashion’s biggest names, like Condé Nast as a fashion coordinator and Burberry as a stylist, he never stopped inventing recipes that combined his Polish heritage with London’s global cuisines. While working as Global Lead Stylist at fashion brand Reiss, he launched his Wojtek’s Bistro supper club from his East London flat. It started as a homage to his upbringing, mixed with an elegant London sensibility, and acquired a cult following, attracting journalists, artists, and fashion-industry executives through his Instagram account.
Now a freelance brand consultant, creative director, and stylist, Wojtek continues to host what may be London’s most unexpected supper club. Wojtek’s Bistro is his first book.
