Yacov Morad
Yacov Morad is a winemaker, author, and founder of Morad Winery in Israel. His passion for winemaking began at the age of 10 when he observed his father creating wine on a small plot of land. By 12, Yacov was crafting his own wines. After a lifetime dedicated to this pursuit, he and his wife, Ester, transformed his lifelong hobby into a profession.
In 1999, Morad Winery opened, receiving widespread acclaim and international press attention for its innovative use of ingredients such as parsley, sweet potatoes, and sage in winemaking. The winery became renowned, and Yacov was featured on numerous popular television shows and news broadcasts. He also hosted hundreds of thousands of visitors at the boutique winery’s visitors’ center. Morad Winery was the first commercial winery in Israel to produce wines from ingredients other than grapes.
Now, over 20 years later, Yacov and Ester are retired. Yacov dedicates his time to teaching students the art of creating exquisite wines and liqueurs from a variety of ingredients, excluding grapes, within the home environment.
