Welcome to my Monthly Wrap-Up for July. Just a brief look at the month that was.
Something unexpected happened in July, there was a big shift towards Non-Fiction, most notably Politics and Current Affairs.
The Nile shipped huge numbers of Regime Change: Inside the Imperial Presidency of Donald Trump, The Twilight of Exceptionalism: The Liberal and Conservative Era 2013-22, Where It All Went Wrong: The case against John Howard and Getting Murdoched: How Murdoch’s Media Wields Power and Punishment.
Looks like some Australian readers have decided it’s time to re-engage with politics.
Politics and Current Affairs
This shift goes hand in hand with a sudden, startling surge of interest in literary fiction, with Ann Patchett’s Whistler, Elizabeth Strout’s The Things We Never Say and Maggie O’Farrell’s Land joining zeitgeist satire Yesteryear at the top of the fiction charts.
Are things getting serious?
While in Kids and Young Adult, the sixth and final book in the Heartstopper series was snapped up by eagerly awaiting fans, happy to finally have another book but sad it will be the last.
Happy reading.
