Returning to Barry's Bay with Carley Fortune

Following the success of Every Summer After and One Golden Summer, Carley Fortune has returned to Barry's Bay and announced the third novel in the series - Only in Summer, coming May 2027.

I really enjoyed Every Summer After (except one small plot line), and adored One Golden Summer. Charlie is one of the ultimate book boyfriends and I will not accept slander.

Fortune's books are set in lush Canadian environments. Lakes, Cabins, and the prettiest forests you could imagine. She also famously had no plans to write series', her other three novels being standalone books with unique stories and characters. But following the success of Every Summer After, fans demanded Charlie get the happy ending he deserved - so was born One Golden Summer.

I'm guessing the mainstream Amazon Prime adaptation of ESA to Every Year After (which came out June 2026, in the wake of the Off Campus hype) has a little something to do with Fortune's decision to continue with the characters of the Barry's Bay universe.

All we know so far is that Only in Summer will follow Eleanor Florek - Charlie and Sam's young cousin, so we can only hope to see glimpses of our beloved Florek boys in the next book.
